California Slab Opens Super Wide!
Sunday, December 20, 2009
El Nino is now in full effect and this means endless amounts of big surf for the entire North Pacific region. The recent swell that just hit the California coast on Dec. 17th, 2009, delivered what is being called one of the best three swells to hit a familiar west coast slab in the past five years.
With a solid crew of chargers consisting of Van Curaza, Gabe Gazzola, Chris Ward, Chuck Patterson, Eric Akiskalian, Brice and T.J. Seiman Brothers, Evaraldo 'Pato' Teixeira and Ed Guzman, you can bet that there were some beefy deep slabs being ridden that were mind blowing to say the least!
This was a swell with a perfect west direction and light off shore winds all day long that delivered solid gapping barrels from first light to sunset. The tides were also in our favor which provided us with an eight hour window that turned out to be our longest session at this location ever! The lighting was studio perfect and the crew was in usual form as each rider pushed himself harder and harder while attempting to go deeper and deeper on each wave ridden.
